How to Rally Each StandOut Role

Last week on Instagram LIVE, the focus was on teams: how to build them, and how to get the best out of them. This Friday, May 15th at noon PDT, I’ll be taking your questions and continuing the Teams discussion. I hope to see you there!

The best teams know why they’ve been brought together. The best teams are clear on what hill they’re trying to climb. And while great leaders set a clear vision of the path and destination, the thing so often forgotten is that we all take the hill differently.

The language of StandOut is designed to help you with this. From last week’s Instagram LIVE, here’s what you can say to rally each role.

To motivate….

 An ADVISOR, tell them “Things will work better.”

 A CONNECTOR, tell them “It will enable more possibilities.”

A CREATOR, tell them “Things will be thought-through better.”

An EQUALIZER, tell them “It’s the right thing to do.”

An INFLUENCER, tell them “Here’s all the consequences of not doing it.”

A PIONEER, tell them “No one has ever done it before.”

A PROVIDER, tell them “More people’s voices will be heard.”

A STIMULATOR, tell them “It will be exciting.”

A TEACHER, tell them “We’ll learn so much.”

    This is brilliant! The Coach in me wants to reframe all those motivational statements to questions …
    “How can things work better?” “How can we enable more possibilities?” “What can make it more exciting?”
    Imagine going to your Teachers and asking them “What more can we learn?” Or your Influencers, “What are the consequences of not doing it?” Before you finalize your action plan. Very cool way to gain the best input from your diverse team!
